The Abergavenny Eisteddfod aims to provide a safe, supportive environment for children and young people to practise their performance skills through the medium of English or Welsh.
The Abergavenny Eisteddfod is run by a friendly, informal committee which draws on the enthusiasm and expertise of a wide range of volunteers, including teachers, musicians and parents. Many members are Welsh-speaking but not all, and the meetings are generally held in English.
The committee meets around six times a year, with smaller groups meeting to decide on specific issues. We are always delighted to welcome new members. If you’re not a committee person, we also welcome any help in advance of the Eisteddfod and on the day itself.
The committee’s work includes a wide variety of administrative and practical tasks, from contacting local schools, promoting the eisteddfod and liaising with events venues to preparing refreshments for the adjudicators.
Please contact us if you’re interested in getting involved in any way. We’d be delighted to answer any questions and to invite you to a sample committee meeting! Just telephone Rosemary Williams on 01873 811814 or Mavis Griffiths on 01873 852689.
