ART AND WRITING COMPETITIONS 2010

Adult Competition (Closing date 22nd May 2010)

Short Story: Who's to know? (not more than 1,000 words)

Poem: Rain (no more than 20 lines)

Limerick. This year, as an experiment, we're setting the third line of a limerick instead of the first. Here it is: ‘he couldn't decide'. Please feel free to add a word such as ‘but' or ‘though' to the beginning (as long as the meter is preserved). The pronoun can also be modified to ‘she' or ‘they' for example.

The titles/themes below are for both Primary pupils and Secondary students. There are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each of the following: Years 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7-11 and 12-13 (Closing date 22nd May 2010)

Poetry: School's out for summer!(not more than 20 lines)

Prose: School's out for summer! (not more than 500 words)

Photography: School's out for summer! (single black and white or colour print)

These competitions are sponsored and organised by Abergavenny Town Council. Entries should be sent either through school or to Councillor Douglas Edwards, Stanhope Lodge, Chapel Lane, Abergavenny, NP7 7BT
