Eisteddfod History
The Abergavenny Eisteddfod is part of a long Eisteddfod tradition, dating back to mediaeval bards and minstrels in Wales. Today the best known Eisteddfodau are the National Eisteddfod and Urdd (young people’s) Eisteddfod, both held alternately in north and south Wales, and the Llangollen International Eisteddfod.
