Welcome to Abergavenny Eisteddfod Y Fenni - 21st June 2008
Whether you like competing in Eisteddfod competitions or prefer being a spectator, you will be very welcome at the Abergavenny Eisteddfod.
There are instrumental, singing, dance and drama competitions on stage and art and literature competitions as well. Children compete during the day at a local school. Adults, including performers of distinction and promising young musicians and singers, take the stage at Abergavenny`s Borough Theatre in the evening.
The Eisteddfod takes place every year in the middle of June. This year, 2008, will be its seventh year since it was re-launched, after a gap of sixty five years. Although it`s smaller than many other, more established Eisteddfods, it`s certainly no less friendly and the numbers competing are growing every year.
The Eisteddfod's scope is also developing with new competitions and innovations each year. Last year, for example, the four best secondary school competitors were invited to perform in the evening at the Abergavenny Borough Theatre - an invaluable experience for rising talent - while this year we have introduced the instrumental or vocal duet or trio for adults. We hope you will enjoy exploring this new Eisteddfod web site.

ART AND WRITING COMPETITIONS 2008
The titles/themes are for both Primary and Secondary. There are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each of the following: Years 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7-11 and 12&13.
ART: "Carnival Parade"
POETRY: "Celebrations"
ESSAY: "Guided Tour of Abergavenny"
These competitions are sponsored and organised by Abergavenny Town Council. Entries should be sent either through school or to Councillor Douglas Edwards, Stanhope Lodge, Chapel Lane, Abergavenny, NP7 7BT.
